Consultation
A consultation process is a formal way of seeking expert advice and guidance for a specific situation that is creating difficulty.
Most commonly this approach is of use with schools and teaching staff when a specific child is showing difficulties and the staff and parents agree that there may be ways of developing sensory strategies and approaches that can help the child.
A consultation process doesn’t always require a full specialist assessment to have been undertaken first although some background information provide to the consulting Occupational Therapist will be of help to ensure any advice given is tailored to the individual.
It is there will be opportunities to book consultation sessions by phone or face to face meeting for parents too.
A consultation approach is also useful in working with a staff group from a care home or other settings.
